Day 2 - 8-1-21 - Munising Area

We are in the jungle in the middle of nowhere, about 2 miles north of Newberry, MI. Verizon has no coverage here so GPS on your phone, looking at maps, or making calls doesn't work well. You can't even get the weather. We are about 45 miles to the next largest city where there is service. Today we ventured over to Munising to check out the town, Miners Falls, Miners beach and Miners Castle. This is about 45 miles. We also checked into the Munising Harley Davidson to get shirts since it was a little chilly. Today we were supposed be renting a pontoon boat for the afternoon but the water is too rough so it got cancelled. Oh, did I mention the dog is sick???? Yeah on the ride over just as we got to Munising, he puked all over the back seat of the truck. Yeah, and all over Logan.....see he is wearing a Harley Davidson shirt we got at the store. The dog was jumping around trying to get away from it and Logan was trying to get away from it. It was quite a mess. GREAT first day!!!
From here we headed over to Miners Castle which is a short hike to elevated overlooks. The castle is a sand structure.
From here we headed to Miners Beach. Pretty big waves with the weather. Good thing we weren't on the pontoon boat.
Time to move on....we were soon off to Miners Falls. This was about a mile hike and it was pretty easy. Logan and I ended up climbing over the wood fence and hiked down to the bottom of the falls. We lived.
We finished up at the falls, hiked the 1/2 mile back to the truck and headed back to camp. Time for a fire!!
